Camphor Tree

Big Daddy
How many did we plant?
1
Where is it?
It's the first tree you see when you leave the cafeteria.
Is it evergreen or deciduous?
Evergreen
How big will it get?
50 to 90 feet tall
Anything else?
Next spring we should see yellow flowers.
Big Daddy is special because this is the tree that
we planted first while everyone watched. Keep reading
and find out the secrets to planting a tree.
First, the Tree People taught us about how to use
the tools safely, and how to measure the correct depth of the hole.

Next, we learned how to lower the tree into its new
hole and take off the box.

Now you massage the roots so they grow out, not around
in a circle.

Add soil, press it down, add more soil.

Sprinkle on a special fungus, continue adding the
rest of the soil.

Pour a bucket of water, put in the stakes, and your
tree has a new home!

Finally, have a tree naming ceremony. This is how you
do it.
1-Think of a name for your tree.
2-Hold hands.
3-Say: "Trees need people, people need trees. Welcome, (name of tree).
For this tree we said, "Welcome Big Daddy!"
